Adventure Tours Nauru
Adventure Tours in Nauru
Nauru is a tiny island nation in the Pacific. It has no tour companies, but local drivers and guides can be arranged through your hotel, and the island has a rugged character.
Explore the Island’s Landscape
- Visit Command Ridge, the highest point on the island at 65 m, with views over the surrounding waters. It is a short stop rather than a hike.
- See Buada Lagoon, a landlocked, slightly brackish lake surrounded by palms and tamanu trees, with a road around it. It is not for swimming.
- Cross Topside, the mined plateau of limestone pinnacles, with a local guide.
Local Life
- Watch Australian rules football at Linkbelt Oval in Aiwo. Ask at your hotel about fixtures.
- Explore the coastal districts on the paved ring road, about 19 km around.
The Sea
- Dive the reef wall just beyond the reef flat. Bring your own gear and arrange tank fills and boat transport through Menen Hotel.
- Try your hand at fishing, with tuna, wahoo, mahi-mahi and marlin to catch on a local charter.
- The surf at Anibare Bay is heavy and rip currents are strong, with no lifeguards, so stay out of the open water.
Tips for Your Adventure
- Pack light, breathable clothing and closed shoes for walking and exploring.
- Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the tropical sun.
- Respect Nauru’s environment and culture by taking all trash with you and being mindful of local customs.
- Cyclones and heavy swells are possible from November to May.
