Dolphin World Makadi Bay runs daily dolphin and seal shows in chlorinated pools and sells swim-with sessions with animals held captive for that purpose. International welfare organizations, including Born Free and World Animal Protection, have criticized exactly this kind of facility for years, and a genuinely wild alternative sits just offshore, so there is no real reason to choose the pool version. Do not book it, and do not let a tour desk upsell you into it as a package add-on.
What to do instead
Wild dolphins at Sha’ab El Erg. Full-day boat trips head to this offshore reef, known locally as Dolphin House, where wild pods of spinner and bottlenose dolphins forage and play in open water on their own schedule. You are watching animals behave naturally rather than perform on cue, which is the entire point.
The house reef, on foot. Walk off almost any resort jetty and you are snorkeling with green sea turtles, blue-spotted stingrays, parrotfish, lionfish, and moray eels without a boat, a guide, or a ticket. This is genuinely one of the best low-effort wildlife encounters on this stretch of coast, available every day the wind cooperates.
Bedouin camel treks. Slow, guide-led rides through the rocky desert valleys behind the bay, usually built into a sunset or evening safari. It is a gentler, low-key animal encounter compared to the reef or the dolphin boats, and a reasonable way to close out a desert day.
What Makadi Bay does not have
There is no zoo, no wildlife park, and no animal sanctuary inside the resort enclave itself. If a listing promises big cats, crocodiles, or a full safari park within Makadi Bay, it is describing something that does not exist here, or quietly relocating a Hurghada attraction onto the wrong map pin. Keep your animal budget for the reef and the dolphin boat instead.

The honest version of this category is short: one attraction to avoid on welfare grounds, and two or three genuinely wild encounters that never need a captive animal in the picture.
