Reaching and Seeing Wieliczka by Bus

Wieliczka is about 13 km south-east of Kraków and is easy to reach by public bus or train. Here is what you need to know:

Getting There by Bus

• Bus 304 leaves from the Dworzec Główny Zachód stop near Galeria Krakowska. Kraków’s Main Market Square is not a departure point.
• Stops: Get off at Wieliczka Kopalnia Soli for the Daniłowicz Shaft or Wieliczka Rynek for the Regis Shaft.
• Ticket: Wieliczka is in zone II, so buy a ticket for zones I and II.
• By train: The SKA train from Kraków Główny to Wieliczka Rynek-Kopalnia takes about 20 to 25 minutes.

What to See

• Wieliczka Salt Mine: Every route is guided and takes 2 to 3 hours. The Tourist Route is in Polish, English, German, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian.
• The old town: The Upper Market Square, the Church of St Clement and the wooden Church of St Sebastian are all within about a 15-minute walk of each other.

Tips for Your Visit

• Reserve early: Time slots at the mine fill up in busy periods.
• Dress comfortably: Wear comfortable shoes and a light layer, since the Tourist Route is 17 to 18°C.
• Bags: Anything larger than 20 x 20 x 35 cm stays at the surface.
• Tickets: The mine sells tickets only on its own site and at its ticket offices.
