Nauru, a small island nation in the Pacific, may not be as well-known as other tropical destinations, but it is a quiet, remote place for couples who like seclusion.

Beach Relaxation

• Anibare Bay: This is one of Nauru’s most scenic beaches, with more than 2 km of white sand and palm trees. Couples can take a romantic stroll along the shoreline. The surf is heavy, rip currents are strong and there are no lifeguards, so stay out of the open water.
• Aiwo at sunset: The two steel cantilever loaders over the reef make a dramatic silhouette against the horizon.

Outdoor Outings

• Command Ridge: Visit the highest point on the island, 65 m above the sea, for the Japanese wartime guns and views of the coast. It is a short stop.
• Reef flat at low tide: Walk the exposed reef in thick-soled reef shoes. Do not snorkel from the shore, because of rip currents and the lack of lifeguards.

• Getting Around: Rent a car through your accommodation, as public transportation is limited. Cars drive on the left.
