Ceningan, Penida and Sanur Day Plans
Nusa Lembongan sits between two good day outings, and it is itself a day out from Bali. Each plan below is laid out by the clock, because the last boat home sets the limit on every one of them. Costs are rupiah (IDR) and come from listings, so check them on the day.
Plan one: Nusa Ceningan before lunch
- Morning: Walk or ride from Lembongan Village to the Yellow Bridge. The span is 140 m long, 1.8 m wide, free, and open to pedestrians, bicycles and motorbikes. Hire a bicycle for roughly IDR 20,000 to 40,000 a day, or a scooter for roughly IDR 75,000 to 150,000.
- Late morning: Follow the waterfront path to Sea Breeze, which has a pool, swings and hammocks over the water. Suku Beach Club sets a minimum spend of about IDR 150,000 to 300,000 per person.
- Midday: Mahana Point is a cliff bar at the south-west corner with jump platforms of about 5 m and 10 m. They work at high tide only and cost roughly IDR 25,000 and 50,000 a jump, paid at the bar. The Blue Lagoon is a free cove with no barriers, reached in 70 to 90 minutes on foot from Lembongan Village. Enjoy it from the path. Jumping is at your own risk, depends on the swell, and ends with a climb up a small cliff face, so it is no choice for families or beginners.
Scooter riders need a home licence and an International Driving Permit with a motorcycle endorsement, and the roads toward Ceningan are narrow, hilly and gravelly in places.
Plan two: Nusa Penida in a full day
- 06:30 to 08:00: Take the public boat from the Yellow Bridge to Toyapakeh. Boats go about hourly from 06:30 to 16:00, take 10 to 15 minutes and cost about IDR 50,000 to 60,000 one way.
- Daytime: Hire a car and driver for the west coast: Kelingking, Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong and Crystal Bay all lie on Penida. The roads are rough, and a driver is safer than a scooter.
- Tickets: Since 1 September 2026 each major attraction sells its own QR ticket, reported at about IDR 25,000 a site, on top of the island entry fee.
- Two hazards: The cliff descent at Kelingking is dangerous, a fatal fall was reported in September 2026, and swimming at its beach is banned. Angel’s Billabong has killed visitors at mid to high tide, so stay out of it when the sea is active.
- Afternoon: Start back early enough to catch the final boat to Lembongan.
Plan three: Lembongan as a day from Bali
Fast boats from Sanur reach Jungut Batu or Mushroom Bay in about 30 minutes. The first departure is around 07:00 and the last boat back leaves around 17:00. Most boats run onto the beach, so you step off into water that is ankle to knee deep. Rocky Fast Cruise docks dry at its own jetty beside the Yellow Bridge, and a transfer boat serves low tide. Standard one-way fares are commonly IDR 150,000 to 275,000 and vary by operator. From December to March swell cancels sailings, and nothing runs on Nyepi, 9 March 2027.
Several fast boats had accidents in 2025 and 2026. The Tanis sank at its Lembongan berth in June 2025 with nobody hurt, and Bali Dolphin Cruise 2 capsized at the Sanur port entrance in August 2025, killing two passengers. Wear the lifejacket, cross in the morning, and check the weather and the operator before paying.
With time left in Sanur, the beachfront promenade is an easy walk, and a hired driver can reach Ubud.
