Not every visitor gets a clean ten days on Mauritius; a long weekend bolted onto a business trip or a stopover before Réunion often means four to six days, and that’s still enough for two real regions if you don’t try to fit in a third.
Picking two regions, not three
A four-to-six-day trip works best as two legs rather than the three-leg circuit a longer stay allows: pair the southwest (Le Morne, Chamarel, Black River Gorges) with the east coast (Île aux Cerfs, Belle Mare), or the southwest with the north (Grand Baie, Pamplemousses, Port Louis). Self-drive versus a driver for a short trip

Pick the pairing that matches what you actually want more of, mountains and history in the southwest or lagoon time on the east coast, rather than trying to average both into a thinner version of each.
