Árnafjørður is a village on Borðoy, in the Faroe Islands, with steep mountainsides above a deep fjord. Its outdoor options are two difficult hikes, a viewpoint and a shore walk.

Hiking

Two routes start here, and both cross the Stórá river and fences with no gates. Bring sturdy hiking boots, waterproof gear and water.

  • Popular Hikes:
    • The 5 km route between Klaksvík and the village takes about 1 hour 45 minutes.
    • The 7 km loop to Katlarnir takes about 2 hours 35 minutes and climbs 653 m.

The Viewpoint

  • The pull-off between the two new tunnels on route 70 has the best view over the fjord.

The Shore

  • A short walk from the church reaches the boat houses and the small beach.
