Antalya Romantic Getaway: A 3-Day Plan
Choosing where to sleep
The old walled quarter of Kaleiçi is where most couples will want to stay. Cars are restricted inside it, the cobbled lanes run between Ottoman houses and the harbour sits below. Two small hotels are listed as operating in 2026. Tuvana Hotel, on Karanlık Sokak, is spread over 18th-century mansions and has a pool in season. RuinAdalia accepts adults only, with 26 rooms in five restored mansions and a heated outdoor pool, though some recent reviews mention wear. Read the newest reviews before you book. Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) give warm days without the peak heat of July and August. Hotels fill up around the COP31 climate conference, held 9 to 20 November 2026.
Day one: the old town and its cliffs
Spend the afternoon on foot. Walk down through the lanes to the old harbour, then head west along the clifftops of Karaalioğlu Park, a free park of pines and palms that looks over the Gulf of Antalya toward the Taurus mountains. Hıdırlık Tower, a round Roman monument from the 1st or 2nd century AD, stands at the edge of the old town and is best seen from outside. Be on the cliffs before sunset. Dinner can be at one of the seafood meyhanes above the gulf, where meze and fish are shared slowly.
The Tünektepe cable car is closed, so the park cliffs are the viewpoint to use.
Day two: ruins, bays and a mountain at dusk
Drive south-west in the morning. Phaselis, about 55 km from the city, has three small harbours among pines, and couples can swim in the bays beside the ruins. Entry is €10 for foreign adults and daily hours are 08:00 to 19:00 in summer. Lunch can wait until you are back on the coast.
Later, ride up Mount Tahtalı on the Olympos Teleferik at Tekirova, close to Phaselis. The top is at 2,365 m and runs much cooler than the shore. Sunset sessions run on set days from June to October, so check the operator’s timetable for dates, and ask about the ticket price there. Take a windproof layer. In the winter months the cable car stops at 15:00, which rules out sunset, so this plan suits summer and early autumn.
Day three: a slow morning, then fire or sea
Start the day with a hammam. Sefa Hamam in Kaleiçi offers the standard routine of a rest on a heated marble slab, a scrub with a coarse mitt and a soap-foam massage. Prices differ by package, so confirm the figure when you book.
For the evening, choose one of two outings.
- Yanartaş, about 80 km south near Çıralı: natural gas flames burn on the hillside through the night. The climb is 30 to 45 minutes up a stone staircase, so bring a torch and good shoes. The Çıralı turtle-nesting beach is closed from 20:00 to 08:00 during the season, but the flames are on the hillside and are not covered by that rule. Check the entry fee at the foot of the path.
- Side, about 76 km east: the white temples on the headland face the sea, and the sunset there is a favourite for photographs. The archaeological site is €7, or €10 with the museum.
If you would rather stay in town, short boat trips leave the old harbour and run along the cliffs. Operators change, so compare a few at the quay.
Small things that help
- Bring shoes with grip, because the old lanes are worn and uneven.
- In July and August, keep the active parts of each day to the early morning and the evening.
- Government travel warnings for Turkey name the Syrian and Iraqi border strips, far from Antalya.
