Day 1: Landing And Getting Your Bearings

- Check into a District 1 hotel, this stays your base for both days
- Afternoon: get your bearings on foot, District 1 is compact and walkable, exchange cash or find an ATM, pick up a local SIM if you want data for tomorrow’s tour pickup

Day 2: Cu Chi Tunnels And Tay Ninh’s Cao Dai Temple

Is two days enough to see Ho Chi Minh City’s best day trip?
Yes, if the goal is specifically Cu Chi and Cao Dai together. Combined tours are built exactly around this loop, tunnels in the morning, the noon ceremony by early afternoon, back in District 1 for dinner. Two days doesn’t touch the Mekong Delta or Vung Tau though, that needs the 3-day version or longer.
Do you need a private car for the Cu Chi and Cao Dai combo?
No. Shared small-group tours run this exact route daily and cost far less than a private car and driver. Private only makes sense for a custom pace or a specific language guide, budget roughly double for that flexibility.
One packing note before you book: the Cao Dai temple expects covered shoulders and knees and shoes off at the door, men enter to the right, women to the left. Bring a light layer for the tunnel crawl too, it’s hot and genuinely cramped even at the enlarged dimensions.
