Hungary Travel Itinerary (6 days)
Day 1: Arrival in Budapest
- Arrival: Arrive at Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD)
- Accommodation: Check-in to your hotel and freshen up
- Afternoon: Explore the nearby Vaci Street (pedestrian shopping street) and visit the iconic St. Stephen’s Basilica
- Evening: Enjoy a traditional Hungarian dinner at a local restaurant, followed by a scenic evening stroll along the Danube River
Day 2: Budapest
- Morning: Visit the stunning Parliament Building (guided tour available)
- Lunch: Try some delicious Lángos (deep-fried dough topped with garlic and cheese) at a local eatery
- Afternoon: Explore the Buda Castle complex, including the Budapest History Museum and the Hungarian National Gallery
- Evening: Relax at one of the city’s famous thermal baths, such as Széchenyi Thermal Bath
Day 3: Eger (day trip from Budapest)
- Morning: Take a train to Eger ( approx. 1.5 hours)
- Visit: Explore the beautiful Eger Castle, which played a significant role in Hungarian history
- Wine tasting: Sample some of Hungary’s famous wines at the Valley of the Beautiful Women ( Szépasszony-völgy )
- Return to Budapest in the evening
Day 4: Lake Balaton
- Morning: Take a train to Siófok (approx. 2 hours) and transfer to a local bus to Zamárdi ( approx. 30 minutes)
- Beach time!: Relax at one of Lake Balaton’s popular beaches, such as Zamárdi Beach
- Evening: Enjoy dinner at a lakeside restaurant and take in the sunset views
Day 5: Pécs
- Morning: Take a train to Pécs (approx. 4 hours)
- UNESCO World Heritage Site: Explore the historic city center, including the Pécs Cathedral and the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter
- Lunch: Try some traditional Hungarian cuisine at a local restaurant
- Afternoon: Visit the Pécs Museum of Fine Arts, featuring an impressive collection of Hungarian art
Day 6: Departure from Budapest
- Morning: Return to Budapest by train (approx. 4 hours)
- Last-minute shopping: Grab some souvenirs at Vaci Street or other local markets
- Departure: Head back to Ferenc Liszt International Airport for your departure flight
