Mecca Itinerary: A 2-Day Journey
Day 1
Morning (6:00 am - 12:00 pm)
- Start the day with Fajr prayer at the Grand Mosque (Al-Masjid al-Haram), the holiest site in Islam.
- Perform Umrah, a non-mandatory pilgrimage, by circling the Kaaba seven times, then pray behind Maqam Ibrahim. Don’t forget to drink from the Zamzam Well!
- Visit the Jamarat Bridge (Al-Jamarat) and symbolically stone the devil.
Afternoon (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)
- Head to Mina, a city located about 5 km east of Mecca, where pilgrims stay during Hajj. Explore the Mina Valley and visit the Tent City.
- Visit the Cave of Hira (Ghar-e-Hira), a historic site where Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation.
Evening (4:00 pm - 10:00 pm)
- Return to Mecca and enjoy dinner at Al-Baik, a popular restaurant serving traditional Middle Eastern cuisine.
- Take a stroll around the Grand Mosque at night, when it’s beautifully illuminated.

- Stay at the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, a luxurious hotel with stunning views of the Grand Mosque.
Transportation
- Use the Mecca Metro, a convenient and efficient way to travel between holy sites.
- Alternatively, take a taxi or ride-hailing service like Careem.
Things to Know
- Respect local customs and dress modestly. Women should wear a hijab or abaya.
- Be prepared for large crowds and long walks.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and Zamzam water.
Day 2
Morning (6:00 am - 12:00 pm)
- Visit the Abraj Al-Bait Towers, a complex with shops, restaurants, and a museum.
- Explore the Mecca Museum, which showcases the city’s history and Islamic heritage.
Afternoon (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)
- Head to Jabal al-Noor (Mountain of Light), where Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation. Enjoy panoramic views of Mecca from the top.
- Visit the Masjid Ayesha, a historic mosque built by Ayesha, one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad.
Evening (4:00 pm - 10:00 pm)
- Enjoy dinner at Kudu, a restaurant serving international cuisine with a focus on Middle Eastern flavors.
- Return to the Grand Mosque for Maghrib prayer and take in the evening atmosphere.
Tips
- Be respectful of pilgrims performing Umrah or Hajj. Avoid taking photos or videos that may disturb them.
- Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
- Learn some basic Arabic phrases, such as “As-salamu alaykum” (hello) and “Shukraan” (thank you).
