Mexico Travel Itinerary: 6 Days of Adventure
Day 1: Arrival in Cancun and Exploring the Hotel Zone
- Arrive at Cancun International Airport (CUN)
- Take a taxi or shuttle to your hotel in the Hotel Zone (Zona Hotelera)
- Spend the day relaxing on the beach or exploring the nearby shops and restaurants
- In the evening, head to Coco Bongo, a popular nightclub with live music and acrobatic performances
Things to Know:
- Mexico uses the Mexican Peso (MXN) as its currency. You can exchange money at the airport or withdraw from an ATM.
- The official language is Spanish, but many locals in tourist areas speak English.
- Don’t drink tap water; stick to bottled or filtered water.
Day 2: Chichen Itza and Valladolid
- Take a guided tour to Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World ( approx. $100 USD per person)
- Visit the ancient Mayan ruins, including the Pyramid of Kukulkan
- Stop in Valladolid for lunch and try some local cuisine, such as cochinita pibil or papadzules
- Return to Cancun in the evening and enjoy dinner at a traditional Mexican restaurant
Transportation:
- Book a guided tour that includes transportation from Cancun to Chichen Itza.
- Alternatively, take a bus (ADO or Mayab) from Cancun to Valladolid, then a taxi to Chichen Itza.
Day 3: Tulum and Playa del Carmen
- Take an early morning ferry from Cancun to Playa del Carmen ( approx. $20 USD per person)
- Visit the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum, perched on the Caribbean coast
- Spend the afternoon swimming in the crystal-clear waters or exploring the shops and restaurants of Playa del Carmen
- Return to Cancun in the evening
Things to Do:
- Snorkel or scuba dive in the Mesoamerican Reef, the second-largest coral reef in the world.
- Take a yoga class or spa treatment at one of the many wellness centers in Tulum.
Day 4: Xcaret Park and Xel-Ha
- Spend the day at Xcaret Park, an eco-archaeological park with cultural performances, swimming holes, and a butterfly pavilion ( approx. $100 USD per person)
- Alternatively, visit Xel-Ha Park, an aquatic theme park with snorkeling, swimming, and a dolphin show
- Return to Cancun in the evening
Tips:
- Book tickets for Xcaret or Xel-Ha in advance to avoid long lines.
- Bring sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes.
Day 5: Isla Mujeres
- Take a ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres ( approx. $15 USD per person)
- Rent a golf cart or bike to explore the island
- Visit the Isla Mujeres Underwater Museum, a unique snorkeling experience
- Enjoy fresh seafood at one of the many beachside restaurants

- The island has no cars, only golf carts and bicycles.

Day 6: Departure from Cancun
- Spend the morning shopping for souvenirs or relaxing on the beach
- Take a taxi or shuttle back to Cancun International Airport ( approx. $20-30 USD)
- Depart from Cancun, bringing back memories of your amazing trip to Mexico!
