Oman 2-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Muscat Exploration
Morning
- 8:00 am - 9:00 am: Start the day with a traditional Omani breakfast at a local restaurant. Try some Luqaimat (sweet dumplings) and Arabic coffee.
- 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: Visit the Grand Mosque (open from 8:30 am to 11:00 am, except Fridays). Marvel at its stunning architecture and beautiful gardens.
Afternoon
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm: Head to Muttrah Souk, one of the oldest markets in Oman. Explore the narrow alleys and stalls selling traditional Omani goods, such as spices, perfumes, and silverware.
- 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum to learn about Oman’s history and culture.
Evening
- 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm: Take a stroll along the Corniche, a scenic waterfront area with beautiful views of the Gulf of Oman.
- 9:00 pm - 10:30 pm: Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, trying some traditional Omani dishes like Shuwa (a slow-cooked meat dish) or Mashuai (grilled kingfish).
Day 2: Nizwa and Jebel Akhdar
Morning
- 8:00 am - 10:00 am: Drive to Nizwa (about 1.5 hours from Muscat), the former capital of Oman. Visit the Nizwa Fort, a historic fort that dates back to the 17th century.
- 10:30 am - 12:30 pm: Explore the Nizwa Souk, where you can find traditional Omani goods and souvenirs.
Afternoon
- 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm: Head to Jebel Akhdar (about 2 hours from Nizwa), a mountain range known for its stunning scenery and cool climate. Take a hike or simply enjoy the views.
- 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Visit the Birkat Al Mawz, a picturesque village surrounded by date palm trees.
Evening
- 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm: Return to Muscat and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
Things to Know
- Oman is a conservative country, so dress modestly and respect local customs.
- Arabic is the official language, but English is widely spoken.
- The currency is the Omani Rial (OMR).
- Tipping is not expected but is appreciated for good service.
