Tokelau 7-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Acclimatization

  • Arrive in Tokelau via a boat from Apia, Samoa (the only way to reach the islands)
  • Check-in at the Luana Liki Hotel, the only hotel on the island
  • Spend the day exploring Fale, the capital of Tokelau, and getting accustomed to the local culture

Day 2: Atafu Atoll

  • Enjoy a traditional Tokelauan lunch on the beach

Day 3: Nukunonu Atoll

  • Travel to Nukunonu Atoll (approximately 2 hours), known for its picturesque villages and white sandy beaches
  • Visit the Nukunonu Island Council, the local government office for the atoll
  • Explore the island’s interior, including the ancient Tokelauan settlement of Motuhaga

Day 4: Fakaofo Atoll

  • Travel to Fakaofo Atoll (approximately 2.5 hours), the southernmost atoll of Tokelau

Day 5: Rest Day

  • Take a well-deserved rest day and enjoy the hotel’s facilities or explore Fale on your own

  • Try some of the local cuisine, including fresh seafood and coconut-based dishes

Day 6: Island Hopping

  • Take a boat trip to visit all three atolls in one day (approximately 5 hours)
  • Snorkel or dive in different locations around each atoll
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch on one of the islands
  • Return to Fale in the evening and enjoy a farewell dinner

Day 7: Departure

  • Spend the morning shopping for last-minute souvenirs or exploring Fale
  • Depart Tokelau via boat back to Apia, Samoa (approximately 24 hours)
