Uganda 7-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Kampala
- Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
- Transfer to Kampala (approximately 1-hour drive)
- Check-in to your hotel and rest
- Visit the Uganda Museum to learn about the country’s history and culture
- Explore the vibrant city of Kampala, including its markets and streets
Day 2: Mabamba Swamp and Lake Victoria
- Take a morning boat trip on Lake Victoria to explore the Mabamba Swamp (approximately 1-hour drive + 1-hour boat ride)
- Look out for the famous Shoebill Stork and other bird species
- Return to Kampala in the evening and enjoy a traditional Ugandan dinner
Day 3: Jinja and the Source of the Nile
- Drive to Jinja (approximately 2-hour drive)
- Visit the Source of the Nile, where the Nile River flows out of Lake Victoria
- Take a stroll around the scenic town of Jinja and visit the local markets
- Optional activities: white-water rafting, kayaking or bungee jumping
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
- Drive to Kibale National Park (approximately 5-hour drive)
- Check-in to your lodge and prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking adventure
- Take a guided nature walk in the forest to spot monkeys, birds and other wildlife
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking
- Take an early morning chimpanzee trekking expedition (approximately 2-3 hours)
- Spot chimpanzees up close and observe their behavior in their natural habitat
- Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation
- Optional activities: bird watching, nature walks or community visits
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
- Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approximately 2-hour drive)
- Take a game drive in the park to spot elephants, lions, leopards and other wildlife
- Visit the Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise and spot hippos, crocodiles and birds
Day 7: Return to Entebbe
- Drive back to Entebbe (approximately 5-hour drive)
- Stop at the equator for a photo opportunity
- Depart from Entebbe International Airport
Important Information
Visa Requirements
- Citizens of certain countries can obtain a visa on arrival, while others need to apply in advance. Check with the Ugandan Embassy or Consulate in your country for specific requirements.
- A valid passport is required, with at least 6 months’ validity.
Transportation
- Road transportation will be by comfortable 4x4 vehicles with experienced drivers
- Boat trips and game drives will be conducted by licensed operators
Health and Vaccinations
- Consult your doctor or a travel clinic for advice on vaccinations and medications for travel to Uganda
- Take precautions against malaria, such as using insect repellent and wearing long-sleeved clothing
Accommodation
- Accommodation will be in comfortable lodges and hotels, with amenities such as running water, electricity and Wi-Fi
Safety
- Uganda is generally a safe country, but take normal precautions to protect yourself and your belongings
- Avoid traveling at night and use reputable transportation services
Best Time to Visit
- The best time to visit Uganda is during the dry seasons, from December to February or from June to August
- However, the rainy seasons can also be a good time to visit, as the landscapes are lush and green
