7-Day Itinerary for Travelling in the Virgin Islands
Day 1: Arrival and Island Orientation
- Arrive at Cyril E. King Airport (STT) on St. Thomas
- Take a taxi or shuttle to your hotel
- Spend the day relaxing on Magens Bay Beach, one of the most popular beaches in the USVI
- In the evening, explore Charlotte Amalie, the capital city of St. Thomas, and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants
Day 2: St. Thomas Adventures
- Take a ferry to Hassel Island, a small island with a rich history and beautiful snorkeling spots
- Visit the Coral World Ocean Park, an aquarium featuring marine life from around the world
- Go on a scenic drive to the highest point on St. Thomas, offering stunning views of the surrounding islands
Day 3: St. John’s Unspoiled Beauty
- Take a ferry to St. John’s, known for its pristine beaches and lush national parks
- Visit Trunk Bay, a snorkeler’s paradise with an underwater snorkeling trail
- Explore the scenic Cinnamon Bay Beach and enjoy lunch at one of the many beachside restaurants
Day 4: Beach Hopping on St. John’s
- Spend the day visiting some of St. John’s most beautiful beaches, including Hawksnest Beach and Maho Bay Beach
- Take a guided hike through the Virgin Islands National Park, which covers over half of St. John’s
- Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant in Coral Bay
Day 5: Island-Hopping to Tortola
- Take a ferry to Tortola, the largest island in the British Virgin Islands
- Visit The Baths on Virgin Gorda, a unique geological formation featuring swimming holes and caves
- Explore Road Town, the capital of Tortola, and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant
Day 6: Snorkeling and Diving
- Take a snorkeling or diving trip to the RMS Rhone, a historic shipwreck off the coast of Tortola
- Visit the Sage Mountain National Park, featuring stunning views and hiking trails
- Enjoy dinner at a waterfront restaurant in Road Town
Day 7: Departure
- Spend the morning shopping for souvenirs or visiting any last-minute attractions
- Take a ferry back to St. Thomas and depart from Cyril E. King Airport (STT)
Things to Know
- The USVI is a US territory, so no passport is required for US citizens
- The BVI requires a valid passport and may require a visa for certain nationalities
- The official currency in the USVI is the US dollar, while the BVI uses the US dollar and the British pound
- Be sure to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and light clothing for warm weather
Transportation
- Ferries connect the islands of St. Thomas, St. John’s, and Tortola
- Taxis and shuttles are available on each island
- Renting a car is also an option, but be aware that driving is on the left side of the road
Visa Requirements
- US citizens do not need a visa to enter the USVI or BVI
- Check with your local embassy or consulate for specific requirements based on your nationality
