Xian 5 Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and City Orientation
- Morning: Arrive at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, take the airport bus to the city center (around 30 minutes)
- Check-in at your hotel, take some rest after a long flight
- Afternoon: Visit the ancient City Walls (), the most complete city walls in China (open from 8am to 6pm)
- Take a leisurely walk or bike ride along the top of the walls to enjoy the scenery and learn about the history of Xi’an
- Stop by the South Gate () for some great views of the city
- Evening: Enjoy a traditional Shaanxi dinner at a local restaurant, try some local snacks like roujiamo (beef sandwich) and yangrou paomo (lamb bread)
Day 2: Terracotta Warriors and Horses
- Morning: Visit the world-famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum () (open from 8am to 5pm)
- Explore the pits where the life-sized soldiers are displayed, learn about their history and significance
- Don’t forget to take a photo with the famous bronze chariots!
- Afternoon: Visit the nearby Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang (), the tomb of the first emperor of China
- Learn about the construction process and the historical importance of the mausoleum
- Explore the surrounding hills and valleys for some great views
- Evening: Enjoy a relaxing walk along the ancient city walls, take in the sights and sounds of the city
Day 3: Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Muslim Quarter
- Morning: Visit the iconic Big Wild Goose Pagoda (), a famous Buddhist pagoda (open from 8am to 6pm)
- Take an elevator to the top for some great views of the city
- Explore the surrounding gardens and temples
- Afternoon: Wander through the bustling streets of the Muslim Quarter () and explore its many alleys and shops
- Try some local snacks like kebabs, naan bread, and dates
- Visit the Great Mosque (), one of the oldest mosques in China
- Evening: Enjoy a traditional Shaanxi folk music performance at a local theater or restaurant
Day 4: Ancient City and Nearby Attractions
- Morning: Visit the ancient city of Xi’an’s famous markets, including the Beiyuan Market () and the Qinglong Market ()
- Shop for souvenirs, try some local snacks, and learn about the history and culture of the city
- Afternoon: Visit the nearby Huaqing Pool (), a famous palace complex with beautiful gardens and views (open from 8am to 5pm)
- Learn about the history and legends surrounding the pool
- Take in the sights and sounds of the palace
- Evening: Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant, try some of your favorite dishes one last time
Day 5: Departure
- Morning: Check-out of your hotel and take a taxi or bus to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (around 30 minutes)
- Departure: Catch your flight back home, bringing back memories of an amazing trip to Xi’an!
