Sibiu Landmarks From Squares to Walls
Sibiu was European Capital of Culture in 2007, but its historic centre has never been inscribed by UNESCO; the ensemble of squares has sat on Romania’s Tentative List since 2004. The UNESCO sites in reach are Sighișoara and the Saxon fortified church villages. Everything below lies within a short walk, ordered by how much time each deserves.
If you only have an hour Walk the three squares: Piața Mare, Piața Mică and Piața Huet.

Sibiu With Children, Rain or Shine
Children usually enjoy Sibiu best when you split the days by weather. Sunny days suit the zoo, the open-air museum and, in summer, the lake. Wet or freezing days suit a short museum, a puppet show and a long lunch. Old Town paving is uneven cobbles, so strollers struggle and everyone slips when it is wet or icy.
The zoo and ASTRA in one outing Zoo Sibiu is at Calea Dumbrăvii 142 in the Dumbrava forest.

Sibiu Day Trips by Car, Bus and Train
How you travel decides which trips work. A car opens the Saxon villages, buses cover the nearest hills, and trains reach only the larger towns. Distances below are road estimates from route planners, so add time for traffic and weather.
Short hops by car or taxi Cisnădioara sits about 12 km south of Sibiu, with a Romanesque church-fortress on the hill above the village. Entry to fortified churches in the area has historically run from about 10 to 20 RON, so carry small notes.

Walking Route Through Sibiu Old Town
Sibiu is easy to walk. One loop of about 2 to 3 hours links the Upper Town, the Lower Town and a stretch of the old city wall, with room for lunch in between. The paving is uneven cobbles that turn slick when wet or frozen, so wear sturdy shoes. Street crime is low, though crowds call for the usual care with bags.
Stage one: the three squares Begin in Piața Mare and look around for the oval roof windows known as the eyes of Sibiu, which are attic vents.

Romantic Weekend in Sibiu Old Town
Sibiu rewards couples who like slow evenings, old streets and good food over a packed sightseeing list. The Upper Town is small enough that a dinner, a bridge and a tower can share one walk. Shoes with grip matter, because the cobbles are slick when wet or icy.
Choosing a hotel Noblesse Boutique Hotel on Strada Blănarilor is small, with about 10 rooms and no lift, close to the railway station.

A Short Transylvania Loop From Sibiu
Sibiu is a place to spend two days, and after that it works as the starting point for a drive through Saxon Transylvania. It does not support a five to seven day programme of its own, and padding one out would mean long drives with little to see. Pick the length below that matches your time.
Two days inside the city On the first day, walk the three squares of the Upper Town, climb the Evangelical Cathedral tower for the view and spend an hour or two in Brukenthal Palace.

Planning Your Days in Sibiu
Sibiu is a compact Transylvanian city where a few well-chosen stops fill two days comfortably. The season decides part of the menu: lake days and salt-water swims exist only from late spring to early autumn, while museums, food and the Christmas Market work whenever you arrive. The notes below are grouped by how much time you have, not by theme.
A morning at ASTRA Give the ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization a full morning.
