Badian canyoneering: the real rules, not the marketing version

What the marketing pages leave out is that the canyon is a working river gorge, not a fixed attraction. Each time, the local government reopened the trail within days once inspections cleared it, but that’s still a real chance your booked date gets cancelled on you. Crown Regency: one ride open, one still down
Uptown, the Sky Experience Adventure at Crown Regency Hotel reopened in April 2025 after a full safety overhaul of its harness and lifeline systems, and runs Tuesday through Sunday, 2pm to midnight, closed Mondays. The Sky Walk Extreme, a walk around a glass ledge on the 37th floor with an overhead harness and no handrail, is confirmed open. The Edge Coaster, the tilting rim-track ride one floor up, is not: it’s under renovation as of this year, alongside the old Tower Zip. Skydiving, thresher sharks and cable wakeboarding
Skydive Cebu at Santa Fe, Bantayan Island runs the only USPA-affiliated dropzone in the Philippines, a 10,000-foot tandem jump over reef and turquoise water with 30 to 45 seconds of freefall before the canopy glide in. It’s a full day trip on its own from Cebu City, so pair it with an overnight rather than squeezing it into an afternoon; Skydive Cebu’s own site carries current pricing and weather-dependent scheduling. Diving with wild pelagic thresher sharks at Kimud Shoal, off Malapascua, is a different trip entirely: it needs advanced certification, a dawn boat departure, and a base on Malapascua itself, which makes it a multi-day commitment, not a day trip bolted onto Cebu City. If you only have one adventure day in Cebu, canyoneering at Kawasan still beats the alternatives for sheer intensity per hour, but only with a plan B in your back pocket, since it’s the one activity here genuinely at the mercy of weather and rock. Skip the Edge Coaster line entirely until it’s confirmed reopened, and if thresher sharks are the reason you booked Cebu, treat Malapascua as its own two-night trip rather than a rushed add-on.
