Guided Tours and Passes in Doha
Advisory note, November 2026. Doha came under Iranian missile and drone fire from 28 February 2026, and air travel resumed in phases afterwards, with renewed barrages over the city reported in July. FCDO guidance stops short of advising against all travel to Qatar but describes the regional picture as deeply unpredictable (FCDO Qatar , US State Department ). Tour dates can shift at short notice, so favour free-cancellation options.
When a tour beats going alone
Doha’s centre is easy to cover on your own with the Metro and taxis. Tours earn their cost on three trips: the Inland Sea, the north coast and anything needing a 4x4. For a desert trip, ask for the operator’s licence, request inclusions in writing and bring your passport. FCDO advises that desert travel is hazardous without a properly equipped 4x4, with convoy travel, water, a phone and a shared itinerary.

Buying museum tickets
Museum tours sold by resellers add a markup to tickets that Qatar Museums sells directly. Reported non-resident adult prices are about QAR 50 at the Museum of Islamic Art and the 3-2-1 museum and QAR 25 to 50 at the National Museum of Qatar, with children aged 16 and under free. A Discover One Pass is reported at about QAR 70 for five days. Compare the current offer on Qatar Museums before booking a package.
The bus loop
Doha Bus tickets cover stops including Souq Waqif, Katara, The Pearl and the Museum of Islamic Art. A night tour leaves from the Souq Waqif stop, and buses run about every 40 to 45 minutes. Reviews describe the commentary as repetitive and drop-offs as sometimes distant from sights, so use it as an orientation loop rather than the only transport.
Safari details
The drive from Doha to Sealine takes about 60 to 75 minutes before the dune crossing. Visit Qatar recommends November to April. Khor Al Adaid is on UNESCO’s Tentative List . Tyres are lowered for soft sand, and extras such as quad bikes are priced separately; the dunes and the inland bay are the main attraction.
Culture on foot with a guide
Guides on Souq Waqif walks explain the Falcon Souq, which is listed as open 09:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and evenings on Fridays. Watch the hooded birds from the doorway and ask before taking photos. Msheireb Museums are free and a guide is optional; Bin Jelmood House covers the history of slavery and rewards a quiet visit.
