Miami Guided Tours and How to Book Them
The tours below are grouped by how much time they take, which is usually the first thing to settle. All prices are published rates in US dollars, and they can shift by season, so confirm the price and departure time with the operator.
About two hours
Art Deco Walking Tour. The Miami-Dade Public Library System starts this tour at its Welcome Center, 1001 Ocean Drive, which is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The walk covers about 1.5 miles. Tickets are $50 for ages 18 to 64, $40 for seniors 65 and over and $35 for youth 13 to 17, while children 12 and under and library members go free. Start times appear on the library’s tour page .
Shark Valley tram. The concessioner Shark Valley Tram Tours runs a narrated loop of about 2 hours, with a 45-foot observation tower at the halfway point. Fares are $36 for adults, $27 for seniors 62 and over and $19 for children 3 to 12, and park entry is charged separately. Reserve early from November to April; from May to December there are fewer departures, and the 16:00 tram runs only at weekends and in holiday weeks. Use Shark Valley Tram Tours or call 305-221-8455.
Stiltsville Guided Tour. The Biscayne National Park Institute offers this 2-hour trip for $70 from Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove.
Half a day
Food and culture walks. Miami Culinary Tours lists its Little Havana Food and Cultural Tour at $69.99 for 2.5 hours, and the South Beach Food and Art Deco Tour at the same price. The Wynwood Food and Street Art and Design District tours cost $89.99. Times are on the Miami Culinary Tours calendar .
Bay heritage cruises. The Heritage of Biscayne Cruise costs $83 and runs about 3.5 hours from Homestead, with a stop at Boca Chita, Elliott or Adams Key. From Dinner Key, the Boca Chita Key Heritage Cruise is also $83 and takes about 4 hours. Evening sailings cost $65 from Homestead (November to February) or $68 from Dinner Key. Everything is listed on the Biscayne National Park Institute site .
Seabird cruises. The Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, 1279 NE 79th St Causeway, sails on scheduled dates only, and places sell out. A recent sunset sailing was listed at around $70 a person, though the station’s own site has the current dates and fees.
One or two days
Hop-on hop-off buses. Big Bus Miami advertises a 24-hour pass from about $45, and a 48-hour pass that adds a Millionaire’s Row cruise from about $65. Ticket tiers are on the Big Bus ticket page , and the price can differ from the figures shown here.
Everglades by airboat. Airboat operators are private businesses on US-41, roughly 10 to 20 minutes east of the Shark Valley entrance: Coopertown Airboats, Gator Park and Everglades Safari Park. None runs inside Shark Valley. Ask each for its current ticket price and about ear protection, because the engines are loud. Park entry for a private vehicle is $35, good for 7 days. Visitors from outside the United States who are 16 or older pay an extra $100 each, unless they hold an annual or America the Beautiful pass. The National Park Service fee page has the details.
Before you pay
- Shark Valley parking often fills by 10 am in busy months, and ride-share passengers may struggle to get a car back out.
- For a boat that is not run by a park concessioner, ask for the captain’s Merchant Mariner Credential before you step aboard.
- Hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, and boat tours are cancelled when a watch or warning is issued.
