Miami Walking Routes and Guided Walks
Miami rewards walkers in short, well-chosen stretches rather than long city-wide hikes. Below are the guided options first, then self-guided routes with starting points. Prices are in US dollars, and every figure should be confirmed with the operator.
Guided walks
Art Deco Walking Tour. The Miami-Dade Public Library System runs it daily from the Welcome Center at 1001 Ocean Drive. Expect about 2 hours and 1.5 miles. Tickets are $50 for adults 18 to 64, $40 for seniors 65 and over and $35 for youth 13 to 17, and children 12 and under are free, as are library members. Pick a start time on the booking page .
Miami Culinary Tours. Its Little Havana Food and Cultural Tour takes 2.5 hours and costs $69.99. The listing says it visits a cigar factory, Domino Park, Callejon del Gallo and the Cuban Memorial, and that it starts at the Tower Theater on SW 8th Street. The South Beach Food and Art Deco Tour is $69.99, and the Wynwood Food and Street Art and Design District tours are $89.99. See the tour calendar .
Self-guided: Calle Ocho
Calle Ocho is SW 8th Street. The El Titan de Bronze cigar factory sits at SW 8th St and 11th Ave, where the makers include eight Cuban expatriates and four Nicaraguans. Domino Park lies along the 12th to 17th Avenue stretch of the street. Ball & Chain, at 1513 SW 8th St, lists live-music nights, so look at its schedule if you want an evening visit.
Versailles, at 3555 SW 8th St, is about 1.5 miles west of the Domino Park block, which is too far to include in the same stroll. Take a taxi or ride-share. The Calle Ocho Festival is a free street party held once a year in March, and 2026 fell on 15 March.
Self-guided: Wynwood
Start at Wynwood Walls, 2516 NW 2nd Ave, which is open from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm daily with doors closing 30 minutes earlier. Adults pay $12. The murals on the surrounding streets are free, so a loop of the blocks around the garden costs nothing. The garden’s admissions page has the other price tiers.
Self-guided: Downtown and the Underline
Biscayne Boulevard has the Freedom Tower at 600 Biscayne Blvd, which reopened in September 2025, plus Frost Science, the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Arsht Center. Museum Park Metromover station is close to Frost and PAMM, and PAMM is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The Underline is a walking and cycling path beneath the Metrorail line. About 5 continuous miles are open, running from Brickell toward Dadeland, and the full 10-mile corridor is still being built. The Miami-Dade Underline page tracks progress.
Heat, tides and bills
- Walk early in the day and carry water, because Miami is hot and humid for much of the year.
- King tides can flood low streets on clear days for about 3 hours around high tide. The City of Miami lists 2026 peaks on 24 to 30 October, 6 to 9 November and 23 to 26 November, and its king tide page explains the safety rules. Do not wade through flooded streets.
- On Ocean Drive, ask for prices before you order and read the itemized check. Menus must show prices, and an automatic service charge on the bill can lead guests to tip twice.
- Plan around Atlantic hurricane season, which lasts from 1 June until 30 November.
- Metrorail costs $2.25 a trip with tap-to-pay at the gates, and Metromover is free.
