The easiest group activity to book badly in Cayo District is cave tubing, not because it’s difficult, but because how many people an operator puts behind one guide varies a lot more than the marketing suggests.

It seats larger parties comfortably (typically 12 to 15 people) but requires pre-booking, since it’s a single boat with a fixed schedule; shared tours run $60 to $80 USD per person. Book the Vaca Lake pontoon tour ahead of a large-group visit rather than trying to arrange it on arrival.
Group canoeing on the Macal
Groups can hire multi-person canoes to paddle a stretch of the Macal River, tracing sections of the route used in La Ruta Maya, Belize’s 4-day, 175-mile canoe marathon held every March from the Hawkesworth Bridge to Belize City. A river canoeing trip from San Ignacio is the more relaxed, half-day version of the same water.
