For couples who want distance from both the city and the resort strip, Wadi as-Seer’s Iraq al-Amir district offers a slower alternative: olive groves, terraced hills, and the 2nd-century BCE ruins of Qasr al-Abd, with a guesthouse run by the Iraq al-Amir Women’s Cooperative Society for an overnight away from traffic. Entry to Qasr al-Abd is 1 JOD, or free with the Jordan Pass , which is worth buying online before you land regardless of which of these three getaways you choose, since the pass also waives Jordan’s 40 JOD visa fee for anyone staying at least two consecutive nights.
