Ghana is not a resort-island country, and the honest list of romantic options is short. Matching it to the days you have makes planning easier: a day, a weekend or a week. Prices are in Ghana cedis (GH₵), about 11.7 to the US dollar in early October 2026, and they move.
One day: Aburi’s hill gardens
Aburi Botanical Gardens lie on the cooler Akuapem ridge about 35 km north of Accra, an hour’s drive. Founded in 1890, they have avenues of royal palms, giant silk cotton trees and spice trees, and a pergola known as Lovers’ Lane. Entry is about GH₵20. Go on a weekday morning, bring a picnic and plan a slow walk.
A weekend: Lake Bosomtwe
About 30 km south-east of Kumasi, Lake Bosomtwe fills a crater some 8 km wide, and the Ashanti hold it sacred. Paddled wooden boats drift on the water, and lakeside eco-lodges serve long lunches. Fly Accra to Kumasi in about 40 minutes or take the coach, and spend the second day in Kumasi’s craft villages. Confirm room details directly with a lodge and be guided by their advice on swimming.
A week: a night or two in elephant country
Zaina Lodge inside Mole National Park is Ghana’s best-known luxury stay. Tented chalets have private outdoor showers, the pool looks over two waterholes where elephants bathe, and dinners can be served in the open air. Rooms start from about US$330 a night, around GH₵3,900, and prices move.
Getting there is half the trip. Mole is never a day trip from Accra. Fly to Tamale in about an hour, then drive roughly 2.5 hours. Western coast for a slower finish
The Western Region coast around Busua and Axim is a calmer scene than the city beaches. Fly Accra to Takoradi in about 40 minutes, or take the long coastal road. The Atlantic here has rip currents and a heavy shorebreak, so never swim alone or at night, and stay in a hotel pool if you are unsure.

Bring your yellow fever certificate: if you cannot show one, you may be refused entry or vaccinated on arrival. Malaria occurs all year, so take prophylaxis advice and use repellent at dusk.
