Book the wrong hostel in Huacachina and your romantic weekend ends at 3 a.m. to bass from the pool bar next door. Book the right property instead, and the same desert delivers candlelit dinners, private tastings and a night sky with almost no light pollution.
Viñas Queirolo: the vineyard escape
Twenty kilometers northeast of Ica in San José de los Molinos, Hotel & Hacienda Viñas Queirolo sets Republican-style suites among 500-plus hectares of vines, with an adults-only pool, sommelier-led barrel room tastings, and a sunset walk to the estate’s vineyard mirador for a glass of chilled Intipalka sparkling wine. Check availability at Viñas Queirolo for the barrel-room tasting packages couples book most often.
Hotel Las Dunas: the oasis resort
Fourteen hectares of private palm gardens surround this 4-star resort in Ica city, with a planetarium and observatory built for couples’ stargazing, a full spa doing pisco-oil massages and grape-seed exfoliations, and Peruvian Paso horse riding on the grounds. See rooms at Hotel Las Dunas on Booking.com covers current availability directly, or check the resort’s own site at lasdunashotel.com for the full amenities list.
Private dune glamping
Specialty operators pitch Bedouin-style tented camps deep in the dunes, away from the oasis entirely: Persian carpets, a private chef, chilled Peruvian wine and a campfire under the Southern Cross. It is the most expensive romantic option here, and also the quietest, since there is no hostel within earshot.
The party-hostel trap
Wild Rover and Casa de Arena, both in central Huacachina, run electronic music until roughly 3 a.m. through walls thin enough to carry every beat. Book a room at either one expecting a quiet couples’ weekend and you will be disappointed; book Viñas Queirolo, Las Dunas, or a quiet boutique property in Huacachina like Hotel Curasi instead, all set back from the party strip. If a Huacachina hostel bar is anywhere in your evening plans regardless, stick to factory-sealed drinks: the UK added Peru to its methanol-poisoning advisory list in November 2025, and cheap poured spirits at party nights are exactly what that warning targets.
Pair a vineyard stay with our sightseeing guide for a quiet daytime walk around the oasis malecon before the evening’s tasting; it is the same lagoon the hostels sit on, just enjoyed at a slower pace.
