Romantic Osh: Sunset on Sulaiman-Too
Osh isn’t a couples-resort destination, and it doesn’t need to pretend to be. What it has is a genuinely romantic sacred mountain, a slow-moving riverside park, and a food scene worth sharing with someone, which is more honest than a manufactured “romantic getaway” checklist anyway. Two corrections up front: skip anything that mentions Jayma Bazaar as a romantic stroll (it’s a demolished lot now, not a market), and skip Sary-Chelek Nature Reserve if a post claimed it’s “an hour’s drive.” It’s roughly 250 km away in a different region, not a couples’ afternoon trip.

Climb Sulaiman-Too in the late afternoon and time your arrival at Babur’s House, the 15th-century prayer shelter at the eastern peak, for sunset over the Ferghana Valley. This is a working pilgrimage site and cemetery, so keep the romance quiet and respectful, shoulders and knees covered, no public displays of affection at the shrines. The view alone is the payoff. An evening walk along the Ak-Buura
Navoi Park runs shaded and unhurried along the river, with a vintage Ferris wheel and street tea gardens that make for an easy evening walk once the summer heat breaks. It’s free, it’s quiet after the day-trippers clear out, and it’s a genuinely pleasant place to end a day together without needing a reservation anywhere.
A private plov class for two
Rather than a generic couples’ cooking class, book a hands-on plov session with a local ustoz (master chef): buying the Uzgen Devzira rice and lamb together, learning to control the wood fire under the kazan, and eating what you made. Best of Osh runs this as one of its standard sessions, and it beats a restaurant reservation for something you’ll actually remember.
