Quebec City for Two in Winter and Summer

Quebec City suits couples twice over: in winter, when the old town is lit up against the snow, and in summer, when the terraces open. This page covers what stays the same all year first, then each season in turn. Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD), and hours change with the season, so confirm before you plan an evening around any one place. Reserve tables and spa slots ahead, particularly at weekends.

All year: tables and rooms

Aux Anciens Canadiens, at 34 rue Saint-Louis, is a restaurant inside the Maison Jacquet, a house dated to the late 1670s depending on the source. It is one of the oldest houses in Old Quebec, and meals have been served there since 1966. Service runs daily, roughly 11:00 to 21:00. Le Saint-Amour, at 48 rue Sainte-Ursule, serves dinner Tuesday to Saturday from 17:30 to 22:30 and holds a Michelin Plate for 2026. Chez Boulay (Bistro Boréal), at 1110 rue Saint-Jean, cooks boreal cuisine and carries a Michelin Plate for 2025.

For a room, the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is the landmark hotel, with afternoon tea and dining at Bistro Le SAM and Champlain, plus a heritage tour. Auberge Saint-Antoine, at 8 rue Saint-Antoine in the Old Port, is a family-owned museum hotel built over a 17th-century site, with the farm-to-fork restaurant Chez Muffy. Two spas are worth a booking. At Strøm Spa Nordique Vieux-Québec, 515 boulevard Champlain, the thermal circuit combines outdoor whirlpools, Finnish saunas, a eucalyptus steam bath and thermal waterfalls. Reservations are required and guests are typically 16 and over. Sibéria Station Spa, at 339 rue de Genève in Lac-Beauport, lists its thermal experience from 9:00 to 21:00 Sunday to Thursday and to 22:00 on Friday and Saturday. Neither spa had a confirmed price, so check Strøm Spa or Sibéria Station Spa .

Winter for two

The Hôtel de Glace at Valcartier, about 30 minutes north of the city, is the signature winter night. Overnight suites are offered from 4 January to 13 March 2027, starting around 485 before tax. Pack warm layers, and note that rates are tax-exclusive.

On Dufferin Terrace, the Glissades de la Terrasse are three ice toboggan runs for up to four riders each, running from mid-December to mid-March and longer in a cold year. The 2026 to 2027 price had not been published. Skating hand in hand is free at the Place D’Youville rink, which rents skates for about 10 for adults plus tax. Carnaval de Québec, from 5 to 14 February 2027, adds night parades, and rooms fill early. Stairs and slopes in the old town ice over, so wear boots with grip.

Summer for two

On Île d’Orléans, the terrace at Cassis Monna & Filles, 1225 chemin Royal in Saint-Pierre, is open in summer. The shop and cellar keep Monday to Thursday hours of 10:00 to 18:00 and Friday to Sunday hours of 10:00 to 19:00, though the terrace and ice cream counter close in winter. Cidrerie Verger Bilodeau et Distillerie, at 1868 chemin Royal, offers free tastings of ice cider and is open daily from 9:00 to 18:00. The Chocolaterie de l’Île d’Orléans in Sainte-Pétronille is open year-round.

After dinner, the Québec-Lévis ferry makes a short crossing of about 12 minutes from near the Musée de la civilisation, with a look back at the lit cliffs from the river. It takes no reservations, and the adult foot fare was about 4.25 before a small April 2026 increase. The winter timetable now applies all year, so check the ferry fares and times . A walk down through Petit-Champlain and Place Royale is best late in the evening, when the day crowds have gone.
