Memphis Festivals And Events 2026
Memphis’s event calendar concentrates almost entirely in two windows: May, and Elvis Week in August. Here’s what’s actually confirmed for 2026, and one important correction to a Memphis event that many older guides still get wrong.
RiverBeat Music Festival, May 1-3, 2026
Tom Lee Park hosts Memphis’s confirmed early-May music festival. This is worth flagging clearly: the long-running Beale Street Music Festival has been on hiatus since 2024, and its 2026 return is not confirmed on the official Memphis in May site. If you’re planning around live music in early May, RiverBeat is the event to build your dates around, not the older festival name you might see referenced elsewhere.
World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, May 13-16, 2026
Also at Liberty Park, this is the world’s largest pork barbecue contest, drawing pitmasters and teams from well beyond Tennessee. Expect the city’s barbecue restaurants to be busy too, since the contest puts the whole cuisine in the spotlight for the week. Book accommodations well ahead if your trip lands in mid-May, since this stacks on top of RiverBeat earlier in the month.
Elvis Week, August 8-16, 2026
Graceland’s biggest annual event marks the anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death on August 16, 1977, with the Candlelight Vigil held the night before, August 15. Hotels around Graceland and Whitehaven fill up well in advance, and Graceland’s own timed tickets need booking ahead regardless of when you visit, but especially during this week.
A daily event, not an annual one
The Peabody Duck March happens every single day of the year, not just during a festival window, so it’s worth building into any itinerary regardless of when you visit. Ducks march from their rooftop palace to the lobby fountain at 11am and back at 5pm; arrive about 30 minutes early for a good spot.
Booking around the calendar
May, in total, is the busiest single month in Memphis between the two confirmed festivals above. Elvis Week in August is the other major spike. Outside those windows, the city runs at a more normal pace, and hotel rates reflect it.
