Nairobi has real street crime, so pick a base in one of the neighborhoods below rather than the cheapest option you can find, and use Uber, Bolt, or Little to get back after dark rather than walking, even in a “safe” area. 4. Kilimani and Lavington, for a local feel
Residential neighborhoods between the CBD and Karen with a good, growing restaurant and cafe scene, generally good safety, and a calmer pace than Westlands, a solid middle option.
