6 Days in Venice, No Hurry
Six days means you never have to rush, and you get a beach day. This plan works through the city and lagoon at an easy pace, then hands you an afternoon of sand to break it all up.
Day 1: San Marco
The Basilica on a free timed slot (dress code enforced), the Doge’s Palace (about EUR30 to 35), the Campanile lift (about EUR10), a long lunch, and a slow walk to close.
Tip: book the Basilica and palace the night before to skip the morning line.
Day 2: the Rialto and San Polo
Rialto market before 9am, the bridge, San Polo and the Frari. Afternoon gondola (EUR90 fixed) or a EUR2 traghetto, dinner off the strip.
Tip: the fish hall shuts by early afternoon, so this is a morning stop, not a lunchtime one.
Day 3: the lagoon islands
Murano, Burano and Torcello from Fondamente Nove, all exempt from the access fee.
Tip: start at Burano and work back to beat the tour boats to the colours.
Day 4: Cannaregio and Dorsoduro
Cannaregio and the Ghetto (1516) in the morning, one gallery in Dorsoduro after lunch, the Zattere at sunset.
Tip: pick the Accademia for old masters or the Peggy Guggenheim for modern; doing both in a day undoes the point of six.
Day 5: Castello
The quietest sestiere: the Arsenale, the Biennale gardens, Via Garibaldi, and a hop to San Giorgio Maggiore for the campanile view.

Day 6: the Lido
Take the vaporetto to the Lido, the one lagoon island where bikes and cars run. Rent a bike, swim, and have a slow beach lunch, then head back for a final Venetian dinner.
Tip: this is your one wheels day, so use it, but check the last vaporetto back before you settle in.
Where to stay and what to know
Castello or Dorsoduro suit a six-day stay. A 7-day vaporetto pass (about EUR65, verify on site) covers the lot including the Lido. No cars in the centre, so pack for the bridges, and overnight guests skip the access fee.
