2 Days in Da Nang: First-Timer Plan

Two days covers Da Nang’s essentials without a day trip out of town, My Khe Beach, the Marble Mountains, and Son Tra’s Lady Buddha. Book these before you go

Day 1: My Khe Beach and the Marble Mountains

Land at Da Nang International Airport, about 3-5km from the beach, and Grab to your hotel (roughly 40,000-130,000 VND, $1.50-$5, 10-20 minutes). Spend the morning at My Khe Beach, calm and swimmable most of the dry season, free to enjoy. After lunch, Grab to the Marble Mountains (about 15-20 minutes, entrance roughly 40,000 VND), climbing the roughly 156 steps or paying for the elevator (about 15,000 VND one-way) to reach Huyen Khong Cave, a chamber lit by a natural skylight, best around 9-11am but still worth an afternoon visit. If it’s a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, catch the Dragon Bridge’s fire-and-water show around 9-9:30pm, free from the riverbank. End the day with Mi Quang for dinner, the actual local signature dish, not pho.

Day 2: Son Tra Peninsula and departure

Grab up to Son Tra Peninsula (about 20-30 minutes), a genuine nature reserve protecting Vietnam’s only remaining coastal rainforest, and visit Linh Ung Pagoda’s Lady Buddha statue, about 67m tall, with sweeping coastline views. On the way back, stop at the Museum of Cham Sculpture (a low entrance fee), which holds the world’s largest collection of Cham art. Have a final Mi Quang or fresh seafood lunch near the beach before heading to the airport, budget the same 10-20 minute Grab ride back.

Is 2 days enough for Da Nang?

Enough for the essentials, not for Ba Na Hills or Hoi An, both need a half-day minimum each. If either matters to you, the 3-day itinerary fits Hoi An in without feeling rushed.

One concrete tip: check the Dragon Bridge fire show schedule before you finalize your dates, it only runs Friday through Sunday nights, and a two-day trip landing midweek will miss it entirely.
