Day 1: Old Town And The Royal Route
- Start at the Old Town Market Square, free to wander, and remember every building around you was rebuilt after 1944, not original fabric, UNESCO listed the reconstruction itself in 1980
- Visit the Royal Castle, roughly 30-40 PLN adult, kids 7-16 pay a nominal 1 PLN, check zamek-krolewski.pl for the current free-entry day
- Walk the Royal Route from Krakowskie Przedmiescie into Nowy Swiat, stopping at Holy Cross Church where Chopin’s heart rests

Day 2: POLIN And Praga

- Cross the Vistula on the M2 metro (M1 does not reach Praga) into the Praga district, spared the worst of the 1944 destruction and holding more genuine pre-war buildings than the rebuilt west bank

- Dinner in Praga, it’s the grittier, less staged half of the city
Day 3: Warsaw Uprising And Modern Warsaw
- Morning at the Warsaw Uprising Museum in Wola, roughly 35 PLN adult, 20 PLN reduced, free Thursdays, this covers the 1944 Warsaw Uprising specifically, distinct from POLIN’s 1943 Ghetto Uprising material from yesterday, check 1944.pl before you go
- Walk or tram into Srodmiescie, Warsaw’s rebuilt-from-scratch modern core around the main station

- Dinner in Srodmiescie, a deliberate contrast to the Old Town’s postcard version of the city
Day 4: Lazienki Park And Chopin
- Spend the morning in Lazienki Park, free to enter, and look for the free-roaming peacocks around the Palace on the Water
- If it’s a Sunday between July 5 and September 27, 2026, time your visit for the free Chopin concert under the monument at noon or 4pm, live shows resume then after a monument-area renovation pushed spring 2026 dates to recorded performances instead, confirm on lazienki-krolewskie.pl
- Walk back up Nowy Swiat for cafes and a slower afternoon
- Dinner near Plac Konstytucji or back in Srodmiescie
How much does 4 days in Warsaw cost?
Plan on 300-500 PLN ($80-130) a day mid-range, so four days runs roughly 1,200-2,000 PLN ($320-530) total before museum tickets, which add another 90-115 PLN combined for the Royal Castle, POLIN, and the Uprising Museum. Lazienki’s grounds are free, so this is the day that costs you the least on top of the daily rate.
Do I need a car in Warsaw?
No. Everything in this itinerary sits on the ZTM tram, bus, and metro network or within Old Town walking distance. A car only pays off if you’re extending into Krakow, Lodz, or Zelazowa Wola, covered separately in our Warsaw Poland guide , since none of those are a same-day trip from here.
