Booking Attraction Tours in Accra
Accra has few ready-made attraction tours, and the ones that exist rarely publish prices. Most visitors end up mixing two approaches: paying a fixed entry fee at a state-run site, and hiring a driver or guide for the stretches that are awkward in traffic. This page sets out who sells guided days, which sites have published fees, and what to ask before handing over a deposit. Prices are in cedis (GH₵), about 11.7 to the US dollar. Overseas visitors are often quoted in dollars by tour companies, which is allowed for non-residents, but taxis, shops and market stalls deal only in cedis.
Companies with an Accra base
Landtours Ghana is a destination management company based in the city. Its website lists tour themes for 2026 called Black History, Artisanal Ghana and Living Heritage. No prices were confirmed, so request a written quote.
Jolinaiko Eco Tours organises trips in Ghana, Togo and Benin from a base near Accra. The company’s own site at joli-ecotours.com shows a booking fee of EUR 25 and no tour prices. A directory entry repeats the company’s accreditation claims, and the Ghana Tourism Authority is the body to ask if you want them confirmed.
Sites with published fees
| Site | Where | Fee for a non-Ghanaian adult | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| National Museum of Ghana | 2 Barnes Road, Adabraka | GH₵80 | Daily 9:00 to 16:30 |
| Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park | Off High Street | GH₵100 | Burial memorial; the park’s pages give different hours |
| Cape Coast and Elmina castles | About 145 km west | About GH₵80 each | Slave-trade memorials; confirm the fee at the gate |
The museum page carries the student and child rates, and the park’s rates page says fees may rise at any time. The castles are a long and solemn day, with about three hours of driving each way, so many visitors stay overnight in Cape Coast instead of racing back.
Three questions to ask before paying
- What does the price include? Entry fees are often charged on top of the vehicle and guide.
- When does the vehicle leave? Roads are slowest from about 6:30 to 10:00 and from 16:30 to 20:30, and a castle day needs a start around 6:00.
- Does the route pass a government or security building? Photography near such sites needs permission, and in Ga Mashie and the markets you should ask people before you photograph them.
Free and small-group options
Global Mamas has a store in Osu that runs a free fair-trade mini tour on weekdays for groups of three or more, according to secondary listings, so contact the store before turning up. Local volunteers with Accra Greeters guide free walks around the city. A private half-day walk through Old Accra was priced at about US$80 in a 2024 listing, which is a rough guide only.
Comparing what is on sale
If you want to see several guided days side by side, Accra attraction tour listings show inclusions and group sizes. Weigh each listing against the cost of doing the same route yourself with a ride-hailing app, since the city’s main museums are cheap and close to each other.
