That gap between the last bus and dinner is the actual romantic window here, not the crowded midday version most visitors see.
The walk to make together
The Passo delle Streghe, the ridge path linking Rocca Guaita and Rocca Cesta, is a five to ten minute stroll each way, but at sunset the drop-offs on either side catch the light over the Romagna plain while the Adriatic coastline starts twinkling 700 metres below. Hotel Cesare, Grand Hotel San Marino, and Hotel Titano are the three names that come up for a night here, and all three are boutique historic properties, not sprawling resorts; San Marino is landlocked with no beach or spa-resort strip to speak of. Check current rates for Hotel Titano on Booking.com if that terrace view is the deciding factor.
One caution: a single secondary source claims Rocca Cesta is closed for renovation in 2026, which the state museums’ own listing does not confirm, so check museidistato.sm on the day before planning a sunset walk that ends at its ramparts. And do not count on EU roaming rules for photos and directions; San Marino uses the euro but sits outside the EU, so a phone latching onto a local carrier can rack up real charges.
