7 Days in Da Nang: Full Central Loop

Seven days is the unrushed version of the 6-day Central Vietnam loop , splitting city sightseeing across two easier days and giving Hue room to breathe. Honestly, Da Nang itself only needs 2-3 days, its real value is as the base for Hoi An, My Son, and Hue, exactly what this plan builds around. See the full Da Nang guide for the wider context.
Book these before you go

- A Da Nang-Hue train ticket if riding the coastal line, book ahead in peak season
Day 1: Arrival and My Khe Beach
Land at Da Nang International Airport, about 3-5km from the beach, and Grab to your hotel (roughly 40,000-130,000 VND, 10-20 minutes). Spend the afternoon at My Khe Beach, and if it’s Friday through Sunday, catch the Dragon Bridge’s fire-and-water show around 9-9:30pm. Have Mi Quang for dinner, the actual local specialty, not pho.
Day 2: The Marble Mountains and Son Tra Peninsula
Grab to the Marble Mountains (about 15-20 minutes, entrance roughly 40,000 VND) for Huyen Khong Cave’s natural skylight, then Grab up to Son Tra Peninsula in the afternoon for Linh Ung Pagoda’s 67m Lady Buddha statue and the coastline views from Vietnam’s only remaining coastal rainforest reserve.
Day 3: Hoi An Ancient Town
Grab or private car (roughly 250,000-350,000 VND, 45-60 minutes) to Hoi An Ancient Town, UNESCO-listed since 1999. Spend the day in the lantern-lit streets and old merchant houses, staying for an evening lantern walk if you’re not rushing back.
Day 4: My Son Sanctuary
About 1-1.5 hours southwest, My Son Sanctuary holds roughly 71 standing Cham Hindu temple structures spanning the 4th to 14th centuries, UNESCO-listed since 1999, the same year as Hoi An. Book a combined tour with transport included, and stop at the Museum of Cham Sculpture back in Da Nang for context if you haven’t already.
Day 5: Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge
Grab to the cable car base station (roughly 350,000-380,000 VND, 45 minutes), ride the record-setting cable car up to SunWorld Ba Na Hills, and cross the Golden Bridge. It’s a built 2018 theme park, genuinely spectacular and genuinely touristy, budget the whole day for crowds and queues.
Day 6: Hue, over the Hai Van Pass
Take the scenic Da Nang-Hue coastal train (roughly 3 hours, ride northbound in daylight) or drive the Hai Van Pass (about 2-2.5 hours). Hue’s Complex of Hue Monuments became Vietnam’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. With a full extra day here, an overnight in Hue works better than a rushed round trip, giving you an evening on the Perfume River.
Day 7: Return to Da Nang and departure
Head back to Da Nang by train or car in the morning, and use any remaining time for last-minute Mi Quang or a final walk along the Han River before your flight. Da Nang International Airport is about 10-20 minutes from either the beach strip or Han River side.
Is 7 days too long for a first Da Nang-area trip?
Not if Hue is part of the plan, splitting city sightseeing across two days and giving Hue an overnight instead of a rushed round trip makes this the most comfortable version of the full loop. See our 6-day itinerary for the tighter version if a week feels like too much.
One concrete tip: build in a genuinely free half-day somewhere in the middle of the week, six straight days of sightseeing plus travel between three UNESCO sites adds up, and a slow My Khe Beach morning resets you for Hue at the end.
