4 Days in Dubai: First-Timer Plan

Travel advisory: Dubai and the wider UAE were caught up in the 2026 regional conflict with Iran. During a roughly six-week phase in early 2026, Iranian drones and missiles struck sites in the UAE, including near Dubai’s airport and port and a hotel on Palm Jumeirah. A ceasefire has held since April, and Dubai’s flights, hotels, and attractions are operating and recovering, though the situation stays fluid (the current risk is mainly to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, not the city). The US State Department has the UAE at “Reconsider Travel” and the UK FCDO does not advise against travel, but both flag the regional situation. Check the current US State Department and UK FCDO advisories before booking, and again before you fly. Everything below is written for a normal visit, for when it’s calm.

Four days adds a proper Museum of the Future stop and the Dubai Frame to the three-day core, without needing the seasonal parks that only make sense on longer trips. Book these before you go

Day 1: Downtown and the skyline

Morning

Burj Khalifa (Level 124/125, roughly AED 149-250, book ahead), then The Dubai Mall (free) for lunch.

Afternoon

The Dubai Aquarium (around AED 120) inside the mall, or extra shopping time.

Evening

The free Dubai Fountain show (check current showtimes), then dinner near Downtown.

Day 2: Old Dubai

Morning

Al Fahidi Historical District, then the abra (about AED 1) across Dubai Creek to Deira for the Gold Souk and Spice Souk. The Dubai Museum inside Al Fahidi Fort has been closed since around January 2026 for restoration, so skip it for now.

Afternoon

Lunch at Ravi in Satwa (Pakistani, open since 1978), then a walk along Al Seef, the restored creekside promenade.

Evening

Dinner at Arabian Tea House for an Emirati menu in a courtyard setting.

Day 3: Desert safari and Museum of the Future

Morning

The Museum of the Future (AED 149-159, book a timed slot), a striking building built around exhibits on future cities and space.

Afternoon

The Dubai Frame (around AED 42) for a quick straddling-old-and-new photo stop.

Evening

A desert safari (roughly AED 99-350): dune bashing, a camel ride, and a Bedouin-camp dinner.

Day 4: Palm Jumeirah and the Marina

Morning

The Palm Monorail out to Palm Jumeirah; The View at The Palm for the overview, or Aquaventure (roughly AED 300-350, free for Atlantis hotel guests) if you have a full day for it.

Afternoon

Dubai Marina and JBR for the 1.7km public beach, or more time at the Palm.

Evening

A last dinner in DIFC, or catch Ain Dubai if it’s running (verify current status before planning around it).

Getting around and where to stay

Base in Downtown to keep days one and three walkable; the Metro Red Line handles the Marina/JBR side on day four, and the Palm Monorail is a separate ticketed connection. Uber, Careem, and metered taxis cover the desert safari transfer and any late-evening trips.

One concrete tip: book Museum of the Future and the desert safari in the same week you book flights. Both fill up faster than the Burj Khalifa deck, especially November through March.
