Day 1: Arrival and one lap of the Strip

Harry Reid International, not McCarran, that name’s been gone since 2021. Rideshare pickup sits inside the parking garage now, not curbside, with a flat $4.50 surcharge on every ride. Check in at a Center Strip hotel and clock the resort fee on your folio right away, roughly $55 a night pretax and mandatory. Walk one real stretch of the Strip, catch the Bellagio Fountains free every 15-30 minutes, and eat a proper dinner before an early night, tomorrow’s drive starts before the heat does.

Day 2: Drive to Zion, hike, sleep at the gate

The drive is about 160 miles up I-15, 2.5 to 3 hours. Entry runs $35 per vehicle for seven days, and as of January 1, 2026, non-U.S. residents 16 and up also owe a new $100 per-person surcharge here, a real budget line, not a rumor. The park’s free shuttle needs no reservation, just your entry pass, and runs March 7 through November 28, 2026 (plus a holiday window over New Year’s), first bus at 7am. Spend the afternoon on the Riverside Walk toward the Narrows entrance or the Emerald Pools trail, both manageable without advance permits. Angels Landing’s chained final pitch requires a separate permit lottery, don’t plan around it unless you entered weeks ago. Overnight in Springdale, right at the park gate, so you’re first on the shuttle tomorrow.

Day 3: Early Zion, then back to the Strip

Catch the first 7am shuttle before the tour buses fill Zion Canyon, and get a second, quieter look at whichever trail impressed you most yesterday. Grab lunch in Springdale, then drive back to Vegas, another 160 miles and 2.5 to 3 hours. You’ll land back on the Strip with time for a real dinner before a late flight or one last night out.

Is Zion doable as a day trip from Vegas, or do you actually need the overnight?

Technically yes, practically no. The drive alone is 5 to 6 hours round trip, which leaves a thin window at the park itself, and Zion Canyon rewards more than a rushed afternoon. One night in Springdale turns an exhausting day trip into an actual visit, and it’s the difference this 3-day version is built around.
