Frankfurt Travel Guide 2026: What to Know
Frankfurt gets treated like a layover, and that is a mistake. This is a city that got flattened in 1944 and rebuilt itself into Germany’s real financial capital, then spent 2012 to 2018 rebuilding its own medieval-look old town brick by brick, on purpose, in the open. You get skyscrapers standing over a reconstructed Altstadt, a cathedral tower that never had a bishop, and a cider culture in Sachsenhausen that has nothing to do with the sweet stuff sold as cider elsewhere.
