Polis Activity Planner for 2026
Polis Chrysochous sits on Chrysochou Bay in north-west Cyprus, and the harbour village of Latchi (Latsi) is a short drive to the west. The questions below cover what most visitors want to settle before they arrive. Currency is the euro, and the nearest airport is Paphos.
Which beach should I choose?
Pick the Municipal Beach for deep golden sand, showers, toilets and a Seatrac sea-access chair. It is on the 2026 Blue Flag list. The Camping Site (Dasoudi) beach is a separate stretch of sand and pebbles, and you get to it by road. Lifeguards are posted at both from April to October. Because lifeguards were in short supply across Cyprus in 2025, look for a staffed post.
What is the Blue Lagoon trip like?
Boats leave Latchi harbour and the basic outing takes 2.5 to 3 hours. You swim from the anchored boat. Named boats on booking sites are Nafsika II and Koulla, Atlantis Boat Latchi, Paphos Sea Cruises and the sunset Latchi Queen. Some trips add fruit, local wine or snorkelling gear. Expect about 25 to 30 US dollars an adult for a basic sailing, and from EUR 65 for the longer all-inclusive days. From 11:00 to 14:00 in summer the lagoon fills up.
Can I hire a boat?
A listing at Latchi shows a standard 50 HP motorboat from about EUR 120 per boat. Fuel, licence and age rules vary by firm, so read the terms first.
Where are the walking trails?
Both begin at the Baths of Aphrodite, around 11 km west of Polis. The Aphrodite Nature Trail loops 7.5 km in 3 to 4 hours, past the ruins of Pyrgos tis Rigainas and an old oak. The Adonis loop is another 7.5 km and starts about 400 m before the Baths. Bring water, since the two fountains on the Aphrodite route are not drinkable.
Can I swim at the Baths of Aphrodite?
No. The grotto pool and botanical garden are there to be seen, and visitors are asked to stay out of the water. Entry costs nothing. Swim at the Polis or Latchi beaches.
Is there anything to do indoors?
The Marion-Arsinoe museum at Leoforos Makariou III 26 is free. Hours are 08:00 to 16:00 on weekdays and 09:00 to 15:00 on Saturday, and it shuts on Sundays and public holidays. Its two rooms hold finds from the Neolithic to the Medieval era and from the local necropolis.
What about bikes and the rough tracks?
Cyclists use mountain bikes on the unpaved route toward Fontana Amorosa. Potholes, loose stone and steep drops make it unsuitable for a standard rental car, and most rental contracts rule out unpaved roads. Quad-bike crashes there are common.
How do I get around without a car?
Route 645 joins Paphos Karavella and Polis in about an hour, roughly hourly, for about EUR 2. Route 622 goes from Polis via Prodromi and Latchi to the Baths of Aphrodite. Confirm times at pafosbuses.com or on +357 8000 5588.
