Naples Couple Activities by Travel Style
Most couples argue about Naples before they arrive: one wants the volcano, the other wants lunch. Both are right, and the city is compact enough to give each of you a day. Find your style below, pick one activity from the other person’s list, and the trip balances itself.
If you like to move
Climb Vesuvius together. The Gran Cono trail leads to the crater rim at 1,281 metres over loose volcanic cinder. Tickets are sold only online, cost EUR10 each (EUR8 under 25) plus a booking fee, and each one is in a named person’s name, so have both full names ready when you book. In October the trail runs from 9:00 to 16:00. Reserve on the Vesuvius park’s Gran Cono page and allow about an hour each way by train and shuttle.
Paddle over Roman ruins. In the Gaiola marine protected area off Posillipo, villa foundations and mosaic floors lie under shallow water. Guided kayak tours paddle over them. You can book a Gaiola kayak trip on GetYourGuide for a calm morning.
Hike above Positano. The Sentiero degli Dei, the Path of the Gods, follows exposed Amalfi Coast cliffs high over Positano. Start from Bomerano, which SITA buses serve, or from Positano itself. It is a full day and no place for wet weather or a fear of heights.
If you travel for food
Take a pizza class. A master pizzaiuolo walks you through the AVPN method (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana): dough given a long rise, a base slapped out by hand, San Marzano tomatoes and a wood-fired oven at about 485°C. Classes cost EUR45 to EUR85 each, and you eat what you bake. Find pizza classes on Viator and choose a small group.
Eat your way down Via dei Tribunali. Share a pizza fritta (EUR3.50 to EUR5.50), then a pizza a portafoglio, folded in paper, at EUR2 to EUR3.50. For a sit-down margherita, Da Michele, Sorbillo and Starita charge EUR7 to EUR14 with a beer.
Finish with sfogliatelle. Pintauro on Via Toledo and Attanasio sell them warm for EUR2 to EUR3.
If you travel for art
Book a night at the opera. Since 1737 the Teatro di San Carlo has staged opera without a break, longer than any other working house in Europe. Its 2026/27 season opens on 2 December 2026, and the programme is on teatrosancarlo.it . If your dates fall before then, a daytime guided visit shows you the six-tier gilded hall.
Spend an afternoon at Capodimonte. The museum and its royal park sit on the hill north of the centre. Full entry is EUR15, or EUR12 in the first and last hour, and it is closed on Wednesdays.
If you want to slow down
Soak in the sea on Ischia. At Baia di Sorgeto, volcanic vents heat seawater in rock pools on the shore. It is free and open all year. The Negombo thermal park closes for the season on 11 October 2026. High-speed boats from Molo Beverello cost about EUR23 to EUR26 each way.
Sit in the cloister at Santa Chiara. Majolica-tiled pillars and citrus trees sit a few steps from Spaccanapoli, and the quiet is the point. Cover shoulders and knees for the church.
Practical points
- Fares are EUR1.30 a head on buses and funiculars and EUR1.50 on the metro.
- Pickpockets work Piazza Garibaldi and the Circumvesuviana trains, so zip phones away.

Verdict: the pizza class is the one activity almost every couple enjoys, whatever their style. Book it for your first night, and choose the Vesuvius slot after you have seen the week’s forecast.
