Seoul Theme Parks and Museums for Kids
A humid August afternoon or a sub-zero January morning doesn’t cancel a Seoul family day, because the city’s biggest theme park is entirely under a glass dome.
Lotte World Adventure, Rain or Snow
Lotte World sits directly above Jamsil Station (Line 2 and 8, Exit 4), and its Adventure section is the world’s largest indoor theme park: Pharaoh’s Fury, the French Revolution loop coaster, a pirate ship, and a subterranean ice rink, all shielded from the weather. Magic Island, the outdoor half on Seokchon Lake, adds higher-thrill rides like the Gyro Drop and the Atlantis water coaster for when the sky cooperates. A 1-day pass runs KRW 62,000 adult, KRW 54,000 youth, and KRW 47,000 child, with an after-16:00 pass at KRW 50,000. Foreigner portals such as Klook and Trazy regularly knock 30 to 40 percent off those gate prices. Lotte World’s own site lists the current tiers, or check ticket listings on GetYourGuide before you queue at the window.
Everland and Its Growing Panda Family
Everland sits about 40 km south in Yongin, reachable by tourist express bus from Gangnam Station Exit 10 (roughly KRW 12,000-14,000 round trip) or the public red bus 5002. Panda World is the headline draw: Ai Bao, Le Bao, twin sisters Rui Bao and Hui Bao, and a fifth cub born 3 June 2026 round out what is now a five-panda family. Fu Bao, the twins’ older half-sister, returned to China back in April 2024, and Rui Bao and Hui Bao are themselves expected to head to China in winter 2026 under the same conservation-loan terms, though no exact date has been set, so check before planning a trip purely to see them. The wooden coaster once known as T Express was renamed Monimo RUSH on 27 April 2026; it’s the world’s fourth-steepest wooden coaster now, having lost the “world’s steepest” title it held when it opened in 2008. Gate pricing runs a seasonal KRW 46,000-68,000 adult, confirmed on Everland’s own booking page . Book admission through Viator or look at hotels closer to Gangnam if you’re making a day of the transfer.
Free Museums That Still Fill a Full Morning
Seoul Children’s Grand Park (Line 7, Exit 1) charges nothing for its 530,000 m2 grounds, musical fountain, and open municipal zoo of Asian elephants and meerkats; only the on-site Seoul Children’s Museum costs extra, at KRW 4,000 (free under 36 months). The National Museum of Korea near Ichon Station keeps its permanent galleries and interactive Children’s Museum free too, with 400,000 artifacts including the Ten-Story Stone Pagoda and the Joseon-era Room of Quiet Contemplation; book a timed slot for the Children’s Museum ahead of a weekend visit.
Planning the Day
Pack a T-money card for the subway either way, since Everland’s shuttle stops connect to it and Lotte World sits directly on the line. For a fuller multi-day frame around these stops, see the multi-day trips guide , or start from the Seoul overview .
