Klaipeda Landmarks and Historic Sights
Klaipėda’s sights fall into a few clear themes. This page groups them that way, with 2026 ticket prices in euros and the opening hours that matter.
Defence and the old city
Castle site. The Teutonic Order built Memelburg at the mouth of the Danė in 1252. What survives is the earthwork bastions, and the Castle Museum at Priešpilio g. 2 uses them. Inside, Museum 39/45 covers the war years. An adult ticket is EUR 6 and a reduced one EUR 3.
Companion museums. The same operator, the History Museum of Lithuania Minor, also manages the History Museum (Didžioji Vandens g. 2, EUR 4 or EUR 2) and the Blacksmith’s Museum (Šaltkalvių g. 2, EUR 3 or EUR 1.50). A single joint ticket covering all three is EUR 9 for adults. All three keep 10:00 to 18:00 hours. In summer, 15 June to 16 September, they run Wednesday to Sunday, and for the rest of the year Tuesday to Saturday. The Sculpture Park is free, and so is the Resistance and Deportation exposition when visited unguided. Prices are on the mlimuziejus.lt ticket page .
Old Town grid. The street plan dates from the 17th century. Walk it for the half-timbered buildings and red-brick warehouses that remain from the Memel years.
Squares and sculptures
Theatre Square. The Drama Theatre fronts the square, and the fountain with Ännchen von Tharau stands before it. The fountain was built in 1912 to honour Simon Dach, and the present figure was reconstructed in about 1990. You can see it free, at any hour, and read more on klaipedon.lt .
Bronze miniatures. Small bronze sculptures dot the Old Town. Allow time to find a few of them as you cross the grid.
The water
Meridianas. This three-masted barque, built in Turku in 1948, rests on the Danė and serves as a restaurant.
Sūduvis. The museum minehunter lies near the Castle Bridge. Entry is EUR 6 for adults and EUR 3 reduced, and it is free on the last Sunday of the month.
Northern Pier. At Melnragė, the long breakwater lets you watch vessels enter the port. Do not swim here, and keep off the slippery boulders.
Collections
Clock and Watch Museum. Liepų g. 12. Adults EUR 5, reduced EUR 2.50, with Thursday evening opening to 20:00. It has no Monday opening. See the LNDM visitor page for the week in full. Nearby at Liepų g. 33 you will find the Pranas Domšaitis Gallery.
Lithuanian Sea Museum. The museum fort at Kopgalis, Smiltynės g. 3, sits on the Curonian Spit and is reached by the Old Ferry, EUR 1.70 return. Adult tickets cost EUR 10 from October to April and EUR 14 from May to September.
