5 Days in Madagascar: First-Timer Itinerary
Five days gives Antsirabe a proper overnight instead of a rushed there-and-back: Tana, Andasibe’s indri, then a full day and night in the highlands before flying home. Want the deeper RN7 push to Ranomafana and Isalo instead? Jump to 7 days ; tighter, the 4-day version compresses Antsirabe into a day trip.

Does the extra Antsirabe night actually change the trip?
Yes. A day-trip version of Antsirabe, the 4-day itinerary, spends more hours driving than in town; this version flips that ratio, with a full afternoon, a full evening, and a market morning instead of a rushed few hours. If the pousse-pousse culture and the thermal-town history interest you, the overnight is worth the extra day.
Should I add Ranomafana instead of stopping at Antsirabe?
Only with 6+ days. Antsirabe to Ranomafana is another 6-hour drive each way, workable on a 6 or 7-day trip but not on 5, where it would eat the whole remaining schedule. Our 6-day itinerary makes that exact push.
Split your Antsirabe workshop visits between the zebu-horn carvers and the embroidery stalls rather than picking one, the two crafts are genuinely different price points and neither takes more than 30-40 minutes to browse properly.
