Bucharest Tours by Booking Lead Time
Booking Bucharest Attraction Tours, Soonest First
How far ahead you need to plan varies a lot from one Bucharest attraction to the next. A few take a ticket on the day, others want a phone call the day before, and one museum only runs guided groups if you ask a week in advance. Below, the main visits are sorted by lead time, shortest first, so they slot into a trip without surprises.
Same day: the national art museum
Romania’s national art museum fills the old Royal Palace along Calea Victoriei. It is open Wednesday to Friday 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 to 19:00, closed Monday and Tuesday, with the last entry an hour before closing. A combined ticket is about 32 lei, and entry is free on the first Wednesday of the month. Some rooms change availability, so look at mnar.arts.ro before you set out.
Same day or online: the Antipa museum
The Grigore Antipa museum on Kiseleff, founded in 1834, holds more than two million specimens, among them a Deinotherium skeleton over four metres tall. Adults pay 32 lei, pensioners 16 and pupils or students 8. You can buy online through antipa.ro or at the desk.
One day ahead: the Palace of the Parliament
Guided tours of the palace are the one visit that needs a call. Individuals telephone the visitor centre on a weekday between 09:00 and 16:00, at least a day before, and groups of ten or more email about three days ahead. Bring an original passport or national ID card, because copies and driving licences are not accepted, and arrive about 30 minutes early for the security check. The building is a working legislature, so confirm the slot when you phone. Contact details are at cic.cdep.ro .
A few days ahead: Casa Ceaușescu
The former family villa on Bulevardul Primăverii opens only on guided tours of 45 minutes, in Romanian or English, with groups capped at 25. The standard ticket is 85 lei, 70 lei for pupils, students and pensioners, and 115 lei with the 25-minute documentary. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00 and closed Mondays and public holidays. Pushchairs and photography are not allowed. Reserve through casaceausescu.ro .
A week ahead: Antipa guided groups
Guided visits at Antipa are priced per group of up to 20: 200 lei in Romanian or 400 lei in English, Tuesday to Friday only. Ask at least seven days ahead.

Pulling it together
If a date is fixed and you want instant confirmation, compare guided Bucharest tours on Viator by cancellation terms. Otherwise put the phone-booked palace first, since it fixes your day, then fill around it. Day trips need their own planning, covered on the day trips page , and the two-day itinerary shows how a short stay can fit several of these.
