Visiting Peleș, the Casino and Enescu House
Visitors usually arrive in Sinaia with the same handful of practical questions. The answers below cover the main guided attractions, with prices in Romanian lei.
Which days are the castles open?
Peleș and Pelișor share a schedule: Wednesday 10:00 to 17:00, and Thursday to Sunday 09:15 to 17:00. Monday and Tuesday are closed days for both. Some resellers show Tuesday as open, but the castles’ own site says otherwise. Last entry is 16:00 at Peleș and 16:15 at Pelișor. Seasonal hours can differ, so confirm at peles.ro.
Are any castles closed this year?
Yes. In 2026 Pelișor is closed from 28 September to 3 November, and Peleș from 2 November to 1 December. These are conservation closures, and the dates are set annually rather than being a fixed rule. The exteriors and grounds can still be walked.
How do I buy tickets?
Only through bilete.peles.ro or at SelfPay stations at the site. You choose a time slot. It cannot be rescheduled, and entry is first come within the slot, so allow time to queue. There is no higher price for foreigners.
| Ticket | Adult | Pensioner | Pupil or student |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peleș (ground and first floor) | 100 | 50 | 25 |
| Pelișor (full tour) | 30 | 15 | 7.50 |
Children up to 7 go in free, and under-18s are free in the holidays.
Can I take photos inside?
Amateur photos are allowed without flash. The high fees on the official price list apply to professional shoots only and are not charged to ordinary visitors. Large bags, backpacks and strollers must be left in the cloakroom, and you wear shoe covers to protect the old floors.
What is on the Casino tour?
The Casino was built in 1912 and 1913 under King Carol I, with Petre Antonescu as architect. After gambling stopped in the late 1940s it became a conference centre. A guide shows you the foyer, the theatre hall, the Baccara hall, the Prince Dimitrie Ghica hall and exhibition halls. Tours start every hour from 10:15, and the last begins at 17:15. A combined ticket with Știrbey Castle, the home of the Sinaia city museum, runs about 99 lei for an adult and about 77 lei for pensioners, pupils and students, and it remains valid for 60 days. Confirm at casino-sinaia.ro.
What will I see at the Enescu house?
Villa Luminiș, in the Cumpătu quarter, was home to the composer George Enescu. Visitors see an Ibach piano, two attic rooms of documents and a bust by Ion Irimescu at the door. It opens Wednesday to Sunday from about 09:00 to 16:00 and is shut on Mondays. Check georgeenescu.ro for the latest times.
And the Bușteni cable car?
It is run by another company than the Sinaia lifts, takes you up to Babele, and has been priced very high, with reports of 215 to 230 lei for an adult return. Wind often interrupts it.
