Romance is a thin category in Nassau. The island is organised around cruise passengers and large resorts, and the list of confirmed couple-friendly options is short: two serious restaurants, one resort garden and a few quiet stretches of sand. What follows sticks to those, plus the practical details that make an evening run smoothly. Prices are in Bahamian dollars, equal to US dollars.

A long dinner at Graycliff

Graycliff occupies a historic mansion on West Hill Street. The property combines a 16-room hotel, a fine-dining restaurant, a cigar company and a chocolate factory. The tourism board credits its wine cellar with more than 250,000 bottles, although wine specialists count differently. Reserve a table ahead of time. Dinner on Paradise Island

DUNE by Jean-Georges sits inside The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons resort on Paradise Island, and dinner is served from 6pm to 10pm. DUNE Bar and Ocean Blu took reservations again from 8 October 2026 after a closure. Getting there needs a plan. Jitneys do not cross to Paradise Island, so take a taxi over the bridge, which carries a toll of about $2 for vehicles heading north, or use the harbour ferry. The ferry runs in daylight with the last return around 5:30pm, so it will not bring you home after dinner.

Quiet beach hours

Cable Beach, in front of Baha Mar, and Love Beach on the north-west coast are calmer than the beaches near the cruise port. The tourism board says about 40 acres of protected coral lie close to Love Beach, so a morning snorkel is possible there. No source confirms lifeguards at the main public beaches, and the open Atlantic side near Cabbage Beach can have rough surf and strong currents in winter. Swim together, never at dusk, and well away from any spot where bait is put out.

Daytime pairings

Two free or low-cost daytime stops sit well alongside a dinner booking. John Watling’s Distillery at 17 Delancy Street gives a walk-in tour and a complimentary cocktail sample from 10am to 6pm daily. The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas in Villa Doyle charges $10 for non-residents and is closed on Mondays.

Getting home safely

Jitneys finish around 6:30pm to 7pm, so after dark you need a taxi. Fares follow a government zone tariff and no meters, so settle the total before the doors close. Unofficial airport figures to Paradise Island run about $45 to $55 for one or two passengers plus the toll. Drivers keep to the left. Autumn falls in the Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from 1 June to 30 November, so hold some flexibility in dates.
