7 Days in Bergen: The First-Timer Itinerary

A full week in Bergen is the version that never feels rushed: two fjord days, a genuine rest day, and a light final morning instead of a mad packing scramble. Day 1: Bryggen, The Fish Market And The View From Floyen

  • Bybanen light rail back to Flesland, about 45 minutes, NOK 51 adult, leave more buffer than feels necessary, Norway’s airport security is efficient but not instant

  • Book Norway in a Nutshell and the Hardangerfjord tour 2-4 weeks ahead for summer dates, both genuinely sell out
  • Pack real rain gear, Bergen sees rain roughly 230-240 days a year regardless of the season you’re visiting in
  • If Sognefjord’s express boat or a second Bryggen museum stop didn’t make the cut, they’re solid swaps for day six if the harbor cruise doesn’t appeal

By day seven you should feel like you’ve earned the flight home, not like you’re recovering from it. If the pace still felt too packed anywhere, that’s the sign to trade a fjord day for a slower one next time rather than cutting Bergen itself short.
