3 Days in Fiji: The First-Timer Itinerary

Three days buys you a second island day on top of the Nadi essentials, and that extra day should go to Cloud 9, the floating pontoon bar anchored over Ro Ro Reef that turns up on every Fiji feed for a reason. This route builds directly on the 2-day version; step up to 4 , 5 , 6 , or 7 days if you want the Coral Coast, a Yasawa overnight, or Suva added on.

Day 1: Nadi Arrival and the Sabeto Mud Pools

Morning (9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

  • Land at Nadi International Airport (NAN) and taxi to Denarau or Nadi, roughly FJD15-20 into town or FJD30-45 to Denarau
  • Head to the Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool , about 20-25 minutes from the airport; entry runs roughly FJD10 to look, FJD20-25 for the mud bath and hot springs, cash-only in practice

Afternoon (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

  • Visit the Garden of the Sleeping Giant next door, 2,000+ orchid varieties across rainforest trails, entry roughly FJD20 adult, open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Evening (5:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

  • Settle into your Denarau resort and walk the marina at Port Denarau, where tomorrow’s boat departs
  • Dinner at a marina restaurant, budget FJD30-50 a head

Day 2: Mamanuca Islands Day Cruise

Morning (7:30 am - 12:00 pm)

  • Board the South Sea Cruises Mamanuca Islands Explorer at Port Denarau, a roughly 3-hour scenic catamaran circuit, adult fare around FJD159 with transfers included
  • Lunch and snorkel gear aren’t in that base fare, so bring your own gear or plan to buy onboard

Afternoon (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

  • Snorkel the reef at one of the resort-island stops; buy a simple island lunch for FJD20-30

Evening (4:30 pm - 9:00 pm)

  • Cruise back into Denarau, shower off, and eat dinner at the marina

Day 3: Cloud 9 and a Second Reef

Morning (8:00 am - 12:00 pm)

  • Catch the boat transfer to Cloud 9, the two-level floating pontoon anchored over Ro Ro Reef with a pizza oven and swim-up bar; a day pass runs roughly FJD229 including a FJD60 food and drink credit
  • Swim, sunbathe on the deck, and order from the pontoon’s pizza oven for lunch, worked into that credit

Afternoon (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

  • Snorkel straight off the pontoon; the reef here is a genuine step up from the shallow lagoon snorkeling closer to Denarau
  • Take the return transfer back to Port Denarau in the late afternoon

Evening (5:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

  • Shower off the salt one last time and have a farewell dinner at Denarau; try a kokoda starter, roughly FJD20-25 at a resort restaurant
  • Pack for an early flight or an onward trip; Fiji’s international departures often leave overnight or first thing in the morning

Fast tips

  • Cloud 9 and the Mamanuca Islands Explorer are separate bookings and separate boats, don’t assume one ticket covers both
  • Reef shoes help on both island stops; coral cuts infect easily in the tropics
  • Carry FJD5 and FJD10 notes for Sabeto and small onboard purchases
