6 Days in Fiji: The First-Timer Itinerary

Six days turns the single Yasawa night into a proper two-day stay, with a second day built around the Sawa-i-Lau limestone caves before the boat pulls you back to Denarau. This builds on the 5-day route ; add Suva with one more day if you want the country’s cultural side too.

Day 1: Nadi Arrival and the Sabeto Mud Pools

Morning (9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

  • Land at Nadi International Airport (NAN), taxi to Denarau, roughly FJD30-45
  • Visit the Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool , entry roughly FJD10 to look, FJD20-25 for the mud bath, cash-only

Afternoon (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

  • Walk next door to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, entry roughly FJD20 adult, open 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Evening (5:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Day 2: Mamanuca Islands Day Cruise

Morning (7:30 am - 12:00 pm)

Day 5: Yasawa Flyer to the Blue Lagoon

Afternoon (12:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

  • Arrive at a Yasawa resort near Nanuya Lailai or Matacawalevu, the Blue Lagoon islands, and swim the lagoon itself

Evening (5:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

  • Resort dinner, usually included given the total lack of local competition this far out

Day 6: Sawa-i-Lau Caves and the Return to Denarau

Morning (8:00 am - 1:00 pm)

  • Take a half-day boat trip to Sawa-i-Lau, a two-chamber limestone cave system with a swimmable interior pool lit by a natural skylight; standalone packages including cave entry and lunch run roughly FJD160-280
  • Swim into the lit upper chamber; the second inner chamber, reached through a submerged tunnel, is usually guide-only and tied to local legend

Afternoon (1:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

  • Board the Yasawa Flyer back south toward Denarau; budget the same 2-8 hour range depending on your resort’s position, since the boat works progressively down the chain

Evening (6:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

  • Arrive back at Denarau in the evening, shower off, and have a final Nadi-side dinner, budget FJD30-50 a head

Fast tips

  • Confirm your Sawa-i-Lau tour time against the Yasawa Flyer’s return schedule before you book either
  • Bring a dry bag; the swim into the cave’s inner chamber is genuinely a swim, not a wade
  • Cash carries you further than cards on both Yasawa days
